We at Make It Cute™ are thrilled to share any and all exciting events that align with our mission and values. It’s just one of the many reasons we are beyond proud to call EARTHDAY.ORG a partner and why we are activating this month for Plastic Free July. This global movement encourages us all to become part of the solution to plastic pollution, something we can all agree is a worthwhile feat.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about the problems caused by single-use disposable plastic. It challenges people to do something about it, and we're inviting you to join us in this cause. Why is this important, you ask? Well, let's dive into the deep blue sea to understand better.
The Ocean's Call
Summer is here, and there's nothing like a day at the beach, building sandcastles and splashing in the waves. But our oceans are in danger. Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans, according to EARTHDAY.ORG. This plastic pollution harms marine life, affects human health, and costs billions to our economies.
Our oceans are the heart of our planet, providing half of the world's oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide to regulate the Earth's climate. They are home to a diverse array of wildlife, from the tiniest of plankton to the largest blue whale. But plastic pollution threatens this delicate balance. And it’s up to us to fix that.
The Plastic Problem
As parents, we know better than most: plastic is everywhere. It's in our homes, schools, parks, and, unfortunately, in our oceans. It's lightweight, durable, and versatile, but these qualities also make it a persistent pollutant. And here’s the real/real: Plastic doesn't break down, like, ever. Instead, it breaks up into tiny pieces called micro-plastics, which are ingested by marine life, entering the food chain and eventually reaching us and our kids.
Our Plastic-Free Promise
At Make It Cute, we're not just about making fab playhouses; we're about nurturing our planet too. With every playhouse you purchase, we pledge to plant a tree in an area that needs reforestation the most in partnership with EARTHDAY.ORG's The Canopy Project. We're proud to say that our playhouses and packaging, made in the U.S. with over 50% recycled materials, are 100% recyclable, embodying our commitment to design innovation, product sustainability, and transparency. As founders and mothers, we understand the challenges of parenting and aim to provide guilt-free, sustainable playhouses that not only inspire your children's imagination and creativity but also contribute to a greener future.
Join Us in Going Plastic-Free
This July, we're inviting you to join us in the Plastic Free July challenge. It's about making simple changes in our daily lives to reduce single-use plastic. It could be as easy as using a reusable water bottle, bringing your own shopping bag, or choosing products with less packaging.
Or, if you’re feeling super compelled, you could host your own beach cleanup. We’re excited to have teamed up with our pals at EARTHDAY.ORG to plan a beach cleanup, and it’s super easy to host your own. Use this link, and follow the simple directions. Best part? You can organize a cleanup with just you and your family and still make a huge impact!
Remember, every little bit helps. Together, we can make a difference. Let's protect our oceans, our planet, and our future. Let's make it cute, and let's make it count!
Happy Plastic-Free July!
