Spring is here and with Easter around the corner, we have made family fun easy with this DIY Decorating Idea that your whole crew can enjoy!
At Make It Cute, we love to inspire creativity and family fun during playtime. Our indoor playhouses are versatile play spaces that children love to use to explore and create. Whether a child is constructing a tower inside the playhouse or creating a magical world just outside of it, we love that there is no right or wrong way to play. In addition to the open-ended play that our playhouses naturally lend themselves to, children and families have also found creative ways to create themed spaces using decorations. During Christmas, some families turned their playhouse into Santa’s workshop, and others decided to recreate a winter wonderland using fake snow and sparkling snowflakes.
Now that the weather is getting warmer and we’re starting to see signs of the new season, we wanted to share an easy way your family can spruce up your playhouse as we shift into Springtime.
Getting Started
This adorable and family-friendly activity can be replicated using a few simple items. You’ll need the EggMazing Egg Decorator, a piece of string, rope, or ribbon, some sticky tac or removable double-sided tape, and a few Easter items from around your house. This house was accentuated with a simple basket with colored eggs, a bunny craft on the door, an Easter banner, a bunny basket, and a doormat to complete the look. Cute doesn’t have to be complicated when it comes to crafts. Reusing simple items found in your home can have a big impact on your little playhouse!
Step-by-Step
First, use The EggMazing Egg Decorator Kit to decorate your eggs. This kit is guaranteed to be a smash with your family since it is so simple and makes such a colorful finished product!
Next, attach your eggs to the string/ribbon using the piece that comes with the kit.
Then, attach the string/ribbon to the underside of your playhouse roof using removable adhesive or tape. Tip: check a spot on the inside of the playhouse first to ensure that it will come off easily and with no damage.
Finally, garnish the house with some extras, like a basket filled with colorful eggs, a doormat, a banner, or a bunny craft, and ta-da, your masterpiece is complete!
Remember that your playhouse decorations don’t have to be picture-perfect for you to enjoy the time decorating with your family. Sometimes the cutest creations come from the brains of the littlest people in our homes so if you’re up for it, let them take the lead!
We are huge fans of reducing waste and reusing items whenever possible. So while you’re brainstorming your creation, keep in mind the items you already have around your home. For example, you can use a watering can and flowers from your garden to spruce up your playspace. Another alternative is to create a birdhouse using recycled cardboard and top it off with pastel-colored paint to add to the warm feeling of Springtime.
Bonus Ideas
The fun doesn’t need to stop when craft time is complete, our indoor playhouses are the perfect place to play pretend! Here are some ideas for themed spaces your kids will love this season:
- Turn your playhouse into an Easter Basket Factory with baskets, strips of recycled paper, and tape for them to create their own baskets.
- Create a butterfly garden theme and top it off with nets your kids can play pretend with!
- Design a flower shop for your kiddos to explore using a cash register, pretend (or real!) flowers, and flower seed packets.
- Set up a picnic inside your playhouse with a picnic blanket, tableware, and pretend (or real!) food.
Kids love the novelty feeling of a new space and by using a few simple items that you likely already have in your home, you can make your playhouse feel brand new to them and ignite their excitement for playtime!
